“Evangelium Vitae” – Pope John Paul II Study Group Session

Did you know HIS HOLINESS, POPE JOHN PAUL II, was one of the most brilliant and prolific writers in Catholic Church history?  Over the course of several decades, he wrote extensively in the form of books, articles, encyclicals, plays, and letters.  No subject was too large or complicated for him to address.  The Pope wrote about a wide variety of topics ranging from the Holy Sacraments, prayer, and Sacred Scripture to Catholic Church history and applying Christ’s mandate to our daily lives.

A study group has been formed to examine some of these writings in detail.  The group meets every second Saturday of the month from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. noon.  All sessions are conducted on the lower level of the Monastery of the Holy Cross, 3100 S. Aberdeen in Chicago.  The curriculum is based on the study guide of the Maryvale Institute of Birmingham, England.  Class readings cover many different writings, including the Pope’s theological masterpieces as well as text directed toward the average layperson.  On Saturday, November 14, 2009, the study group will begin a new series studying another encyclical, “Evangelium Vitae,” or the “Gospel of Life.”

Everyone is welcome to attend and explore the dynamic writings of a truly gifted man.  If you would like to register for the “Evangelium Vitae” series or require additional information, please telephone Georgia at (708) 788-9531.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn from one of the greatest intellectuals in Catholic history!
