“Life Skills-Building Workshop for Victims of Childhood Sexual Abuse”
The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office of Assistance Ministry is offering a new 12-week program for adult victims-survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This series will assist participants in recognizing how the trauma of childhood sexual abuse has affected them in the past, and continues to impact upon them in the present. Trained, caring professionals will guide participants in learning the experiential life skills necessary to effectively deal with the trauma and move on to live peaceful lives. It doesn’t matter whether the person who sexually abused you as a child was a family member, a friend, a teacher, a member of the clergy, or even a total stranger – EVERY victim-survivor is welcome in this program.
The men’s section of the program will begin on January 30, 2012. The women’s section will begin on January 31, 2012. All sessions are free of charge. If you would like to register or require additional information, please contact Thomas Tharayil of the Archdiocese at (312) 534-8217. Childhood sexual abuse is a horrible trauma that no one should have to endure. If you are a victim-survivor of childhood sexual abuse, please remember you do not have to deal with the consequences on your own. Help is available! Let 2012 be the year you get the help and loving support you may need to overcome this pain and live the full life God wants you to enjoy!
