With the touch of a button, His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI launched a  new Vatican multimedia website to provide a comprehensive and timely source of information about current and upcoming events.  The website will provide streamlined news and information from a variety of sources including:  L’Osservatore Romano (newspaper), Vatican Radio, Vatican Television, Vatican Information Services, the Vatican Press Office, Fides (the missionary news agency) and the mainstream Vatican website.  Information will be provided in print, video, and audio formats.  Although the website will only be available in Italian and English for the first few weeks, plans are underway to add on additional languages in the very near future including Spanish, French, Portugese, and Polish.  All costs for developing and maintaining the new website are being supported by private donations and foundations.
