“Survey Course on the History of the Catholic Church”

As Catholics, we have a rich, varied, and extensive history.  Yet, how many of us know the story of our faith?  Who are the people who have most influenced the development of Catholicism?  What key events encouraged and expanded the growth of the Catholic Church into one of the major world religions?  How have we evolved from such humble beginnings two millenia ago into the Church we are today?  A new series, “Survey Course on the History of the Catholic Church,” will attempt to answer those questions.  Although the presentations are meant to serve only as a brief introduction to the magnificent history of Catholicism, all participants will be encouraged to use this knowledge as a base for further, enhanced inquiry into this fascinating subject.

The program will be offered on six Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. beginning February 1, 2012.  All sessions will be held on the lower level 0f St. Peter’s in the Loop Church, 110 W. Madison Street in Chicago.  Fr. Elric Sampson, O.F.M., will conduct the presentations.  You may attend one or all of the lectures.  Although the program is free, you are requested to register in advance by calling Carolyn at (312) 853-2376.  Why not start the new year on the right path by expanding your historical knowledge of the faith we love so dearly?  You’ll be glad you did.
