“Tea at Techny Winter Series”
The winter program of the “Tea at Techny” series will be starting soon. Designed to refresh and renew the spirit, the teas provide an opportunity for participants to enjoy a relaxing afternoon of friendship while growing spiritually through lectures from a variety of speakers. These events are sponsored by the Divine Word Missionaries, with the proceeds going to their women’s programs around the world. The new schedule is as follows:
Thursday, February 18, 2010 – “Lenten Spirituality: For Women Only” with Judy Logue.
As we begin Lent, we will re-think the traditional practices and spiritualities of this season of penance from a feminine perspective. We will discard what no longer fits us, examine new attitudes and spiritualities, and enter into the prayerful healing mysteries in order to make the journey to Easter a truly meaningful time for each of us.
Saturday, March 20, 2010 – “Lost and Found: Hidden Treasures” with Sr. Jane Schlosser, R.S.M., D.Min.
As we journey through Lent, this morning will help us to focus on the incredible gift Jesus gives us – the pearl of great price. Using Scripture stories of losing and finding, we will consider what we are really looking for during this season.
**Please note the March 20 event is a MORNING tea and will begin at 9:00 a.m. The price for this particular tea is $30.
Thursday, April 15, 2010 – “Women’s Spirituality” with Sr. Kathleen Donohoe, O.S.F., D.Min.
We will explore our own concepts of spirituality, including the uniqueness of each individual relationship to God. In the process, we will look at what is unique within the Christian tradition especially as it relates to the experience of women.
Wednesday, May 12, 2010 – “Discerning Our Call, Using Our Gifts” by Pam Coster.
We each play a part in salvation history. What role is God calling you to play? Come and explore your strengths and how those gifts may be used to fulfill God’s purpose in your life.
Everyone is invited to attend one or more of the teas. All of these events will be held at the Divine Word Mission Center, 1835 Waukegan Road in Techny, Illinois (just north of Willow Road). Unless otherwise noted, the teas will begin at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. If you would like to register or require additional information, please telephone Mrs. Marcia Fischer at (847) 272-7600. These teas are quite popular so early check-in is encouraged.
There will also be a special Lunar New Year (Year of the Tiger) Mass offered on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Techny Chapel of the Holy Spirit. The Mass will feature a multi-cultural liturgy with traditional dance and music. A complimentary brunch with entertainment will immediately follow the Mass.
