Upcoming Church Events

During the course of the year, there are a number of events of interest to Holy Rosary Church parishioners.  Everyone is welcome to attend these gatherings and enjoy the spirit of community with others from our faith family.

First Friday

September 3 is the First Friday of the month.  Morning Mass will be offered at 7:00 a.m.  Please note the date and plan to attend with your family.  Our Lord, Jesus Christ, has done so much for each of us.  Why not show Him the respect He deserves and share in the devotion to the Sacred Heart by participating in the First Friday Mass?  It’s a wonderful tradition for the whole family to share each month.   Don’t forget – Eucharistic Adoration will also be available immediately following First Friday Mass from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Friendship Room.  Make a point to share some time with Christ – you’ll be glad you did.

Taste of Holy Rosary

The annual Taste of Holy Rosary event will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010, in the Church parking lot from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy a fine day of food, entertainment, children’s games, and community with your fellow parishioners.  Previous Tastes have been a huge success.  Let’s strive for a great turnout to make this year’s event the best one yet.

Please note:  As in previous years, we are in need of cookies, cakes, and other sweets for the Taste of Holy Rosary.  If you are one of those great bakers who has helped us in the past, we would be thrilled if you could help us again.  Any baked goodies should be brought to the Parish Center on Saturday, September 11, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in preparation for the event on Sunday.  Thanks so much – we couldn’t do it without you!

CCD Registration

All parish children from grades K-8 are required to register for Sunday morning religious instruction.  Registration be conducted on two Sundays, September 12 and 19, in the Friendship Room after both Sunday morning Masses.  Parents have the responsibility to make sure their children attend religious instruction classes each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. unless otherwise notified.  The tuition fee is $100 for one child, and $150 for two or more children from the same family.  Half of the tuition fee is due on the day of registration.  Your child’s religious education is imperative – please note the dates and register for the upcoming year.

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration will be offered on the First Friday of each month from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Friendship Room.  After 9:00 a.m., you may access the Friendship Room by using the gate on the north side of the building.  Go to the back and knock on the door (someone will let you in).  We hope everyone will make an effort to attend and get closer with Our Lord.  Even a short amount of time spent at Eucharistic Adoration can really make a difference in your life.  The next First Friday of the Month Mass will be offered on June 4, 2010.

Prayers for the Sick

Did you know prayers for the sick may also be submitted directly to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes via the computer?  You may send your prayer request to intentions@lourdes-france.com to be included in their daily prayer services and Masses.

Choir Volunteers

Our music ministry is extremely important.  We are looking for volunteers who would like to sing in our choir.  Why not give it a try?  If you would like to join, please speak with Alberta R. Catalano after Mass for more details.  We thank you in advance for your support of our choir!

Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass

The 2010 Archdiocese of Chicago Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at St. John Brebeuf Church in Niles, Illinois.  If you were married in 1960 and would like to participate in this event, please telephone the Rectory to register.  The Archdiocese will send out an official invitation to the Jubilarians later on this summer.  Please note there will only be enough room in the Church for the Jubilarians, with the exception being for those who require special assistance.  Space for additional family members is extremely limited (only one or two others will be permitted to attend).  These other family members will be restricted to the parish center next to the Church, where they will be able to watch the Mass on closed-circuit television, receive Communion, and fulfill their Sunday obligation.
