Did you know 93 percent of the deaf in America have no connection with a Church? Did you know the number of people who are serving in full-time ministry to the deaf is less than 300 worldwide? To address this need, the Knights of Columbus announce "Project S.I.G.N. - Sharing and Interpreting the Good News" outreach program to Catholics who are deaf. Starting on Sunday, December 29, the Knights will sponsor Masses in both spoken English and American Sign Language at two parishes in Glenview.
A Mass in spoken English and American Sign Language will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 3535 Thornwood Avenue in Glenview (one block west of Greenwood Avenue and two blocks north of Lake Street).
The second Mass in spoken English and American Sign Language will be offered at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1770 Grove Street in Glenview (one block west of Waukegan Road and one block north of Glenview Road).
In the future, these dual language Masses will take place on the last Sunday of those months that have five Sundays.
If you have friends or family members who are deaf, please notify them of this new outreach program and join in this special experience of praying the Mass.
