On Sunday, October 13, John Henry Cardinal Newman (1801-1890) will be officially canonized a saint of the Roman Catholic Church. He was an English theologian, a convert to the Catholic faith, a philosopher, an author, and a cardinal - but what made him a modern saint? How did he transform from devout Anglican priest to a pillar of Catholicism? A presentation examining the life and sanctity of this man will explore these and other questions.
The program, "John Henry Newman's Path to Sainthood," will be presented by leading Oxford scholar Fr. Ian Ker and Melissa Villalobos, the woman whose miraculous healing led to Cardinal Newman's canonization. Kenneth Woodward, former religion editor for Newsweek, will serve as the discussion moderator. Sponsored by the Lumen Christi Institute, the lecture will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, in the Holy Name Cathedral Auditorium. There is a $10 registration fee to attend. If you would like to register or require additional information, please call Lumen Christi at (773) 955-5887 or go to lumenchristi.org/newman-sainthood.
