The Archdiocese of Chicago is excited to announce the launch of a revitalized Theology on Tap program for Summer, 2019. This year, Theology on Tap will help support and celebrate the spiritual growth of our young adults in a number of new and exhilarating ways. The Archdiocese of Chicago Theology on Tap events will focus on learning about your faith, growing in your faith, and serving through your faith - all designed to help you deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ.
Do the words "learning about your faith" take you back to religion classes in the second grade? Although those classes are great, learning about the faith as a young adult means exploring your personal relationship with Our Lord on a more mature level and developing that closeness as a basis for your spiritual development. These Theology on Tap sessions will help guide you in your discovery of who God is and how He cares for you in your everyday life.
During the Summer, 2019, Theology on Tap program, parishes throughout the Archdiocese will host lectures and service activities followed by a meal and time for personal reflection. The three main areas of the Theology on Tap sessions are:
Learning - Who is Jesus? Why is He important in my life? How is He present in my life? Why is He important for our world today? How can I grow in my relationship with Him?
Growing - If you are already active in your faith, this track is meant to help you dig deeper to see how God is with you every day. If you are just starting to get involved with the faith, these sessions will help you discover what it means to be Catholic in our daily lives and how to live out our beliefs.
Serving - The act of service is a joyful response to loving one another just as Christ loved us. Service builds an awareness of the world around us and provides opportunities for relationships to show how we can love others just as we are loved by the Lord.
These three areas of learning, growing, and serving will be presented through a variety of topics by different speakers. Presentations are scheduled to explore the lives of the saints, the Catholic perspective on everyday issues, forms of prayer, dating and relationships, understanding and applying the Catechism of the Church, living as a young Catholic in a secular world, etc. Sessions will be offered on various days at a number of locations throughout the Archdiocese. Some of the presentations will be held in Churches while others will be at local restaurants or pubs nearby. For example:
Sundays - Old St. Patrick's
Mondays - St. Peter's in the Loop and Old Town
Tuesdays - St. Clement and St. Monica
Wednesdays - St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Alphonsus
Thursdays - St. Benedict (north center side of Chicago)
Thus, you have an abundance of choices available to you both in location and topic. You can attend one or all of them! There is no fee to participate, and all young men and women between 20 and 39 are welcome to participate. Bring a friend!
